The combination of photovoltaic technology and building roofs has excellent application potential due to the abundant annual irradiance resources of building roofs and the convenient construction. In this paper, the building rooftop photovoltaic system of Qishuiwan tourism and resort complex project is taken as the research object, and the energy saving and carbon reduction characteristics of the whole year operation and the whole life cycle operation are analysed by modeling to evaluate the energy saving and carbon reduction effects of the building rooftop photovoltaic system. The results show that the annual cumulative photovoltaic generation and carbon reduction of the rooftop photovoltaic system are 673 000 kWh and 390.3 tons, respectively. With the growth of the operation years, the photovoltaic generation and carbon reduction of the rooftop photovoltaic system show a decreasing trend. The first year, the photovoltaic generation and carbon reduction are reduced by 20 300 kWh and 11.7 tons respectively, and then reduced by 4 300 kWh and 2.4 tons every year. The cumulative reduction of rooftop photovoltaic generation during the whole life cycle operation is 116 700 kWh. This study can provide a reference for the calculation and evaluation of energy saving and carbon reduction of rooftop photovoltaic systems in practical engineering projects.
